Ferrymans Irish Tavern
Ferrymans, the Original Waterfront Irish Tavern, was one of the first tenants in V&A Waterfront. A popular local spot for traditional Irish pub fare, sports viewing and live bands. Our kiddies’ play area keeps the little ones distracted while you relax.
Inside, at ground level, we have a traditional bar set on a brick-paved floor with a stone fireplace that keeps the winter chill away. On days when the Mother City weather heats up – and we all know it can – Ferrymans beer garden is a popular spot for all. The beer garden is complete with awnings for shade and protection from the South Easterly to kick back with a drink and our traditional pub fare.
We have a large selection of local handcrafted South African, and international beers on tap. Highlights from the kitchen include South African specialties, vegetarian dishes, fresh seafood and a regular offering of traditional Irish dishes.
Take your meal upstairs to our charming (non-smoking) restaurant, furnished with wooden tables, bentwood chairs, and large windows set into exposed stone walls that offer superb views of Table Mountain. Ferrymans Irish Tavern is a renowned host for private parties, birthdays, and corporate functions.
Be sure to check out the Ferrymans Irish Taverns packed gig guide for live bands playing every weekend.
“The Original Waterfront Irish Tavern”
In 1989, when Cape Town’s Victoria & Alfred Waterfront began to blossom into the bustling, beautiful centre that it is today, Ferrymans Tavern was the first tenant to leap at the opportunity to set up shop. The space has been carefully converted into one of Cape Town’s most well-known taverns in the old Locomotive Shed. With quarried bluestone, Oregon wooden beams and solid teak pillars. Find us in Dock Road, in the middle of all the action this beautiful district has to offer.
